How to online date part 2

Prepare your photos

As I mentioned in part 1 of this series, most people join dating apps on a whim. Which means the majority don’t think about their profile photos. And if they do, they're pulling them from highly filtered, social media posts.

As an online dating coach, I can confirm that dating profile photos are important. Take the time to choose (or take) great ones.

9 Ways to fix your profile photos

  1. Smile in at least 60% of your photos.

  2. Look into the camera lens and not your phone screen.

  3. Post 1 selfie maximum. Profiles full of selfies communicate vanity.

  4. Don’t obstruct your face. No masks, hair, sunglasses, hats, food, etc.

  5. No excessive editing or filters because they change your appearance.

  6. No mirror selfies. At the gym, in the bathroom, in your house. Ask someone to take your photo.

  7. No group photos. You should be the only human in your pics. No one likes detective work on a dating app.

  8. Make sure you’re well-lit and in focus.

  9. Take photos whenever you feel or look great and store them on your phone to use later.

The takeaway

If your profile photos aren’t good, that’s okay! Don’t panic or shut down your profile. Start today by changing 1 thing. Then gradually apply the other tips. Good luck!

And if you need new profile photos, send me a message — I’d love to help. 😊
