How to online date part 3

Set a swiping limit

So here’s an important truth about online dating that isn’t discussed enough. Most of the conversations you have, and the people you meet, will be a dead end. And by most, I mean upwards of 90% (not scientific but I’m trying to make a point 😉).

This is why you should set a swiping limit before you download a dating app. To do that, ask yourself the following 2 questions:

Image of 2 question graphics. Number 1 says, "How much time everyday will I spend matching and chatting with people on the apps?" Number 2 says, "How long do I plan to use this dating app overall, before I take a break?"

Online dating (or swiping) fatigue is very real. Setting a daily and overall limit will help you avoid burnout. Here’s what I typically suggest to my Dating Blueprint clients.

  • Spend 30-45 minutes max everydaymatching and chatting with people. Try to break up the time by doing it at lunch and again at dinner time (which are high traffic times on dating apps).

  • Use a single app for 30 days, then take a 2 to 3 week break, to decompress, and process what happened and how you feel. Once your break is over, try a different app and repeat the process.
